After a long and eventful week at the hospital, we are thrilled that Spencer Brady Maurer is finally at home with us. He was born on Tuesday morning at 7:52am with no complications or difficulties. He was measured at 9lbs. 4oz. and 21 inches.
The first few days went smoothly and we actually enjoyed our time together at the hospital. Nana Susan brought Parker over each day to visit, and he is very excited about being a big brother.
Unfortunately, Spencer's jaundice levels came back high and we had to spend an extra day/night in the hospital. We were anxious to get home and it was not the highlight of the week, but Spencer was a champ and passed the test this morning to be discharged. Not 30 minutes after we got home, the doctor called and we had to turn right back around to the hospital. His blood culture had grown overnight and they had to run more tests. Luckily, the rapid blood test came back negative and we were sent back home shortly after. They believe it was just a contaminated test the first time, and we should be in the clear.
We will send and post more updates and pictures so stay tuned. Thank you for all the well wishes we have received so far--we can't wait for you all to meet Spencer!
